  6. for his usual fee. Four chapters left behind by Marlowe's late
  7. creator, Raymond Chandler, intrigued the author, who has written
  8. 17 Spenser mysteries, and he finished the tale. The result, Poodle
  9. Springs, will be published this fall. The project meant some
  10. historical adjustments, says Parker. "Marlowe's attitudes toward
  11. women reflect the '30s and '40s. But he's more romantic than
  12. Spenser."
